Dr. Hilmar Gernet, Head of Communication & Politics, Raiffeisen Switzerland
Hilmar Gernet heads the Communication & Politics area at Raiffeisen Switzerland as a member of directorate. In this role, he is responsible for the group communication and deals with political issues. He represents the Raiffeisen Group in the International Raiffeisen Union (I.R.U.) where he is Vice-President, the European Association of Co-operative Banks (EACB) as well as in committees of the Swiss Bankers Association. As an initiator and cofounder of the Community of Interests for Cooperative Enterprises (IGG), he works to ensure up-to-date general conditions for modern cooperatives. Before Hilmar Gernet joined Raiffeisen, he worked as a journalist, correspondent and editor in chief. He was then General Secretary of the Christian Democratic People's Party of Switzerland (CVP) and a member of the management of an international PR agency. At a large company in the tourism sector, he was responsible for the fields of communication, marketing and lobbying, heading a university institute in parallel. Hilmar Gernet has a doctorate in history and is the author of various publications.
